The courses covered many different topics, with lectures on natural sciences, applied physics, and more all centered around computational science and technology. Lively Q&A sessions took place at each lecture, and varied discussions were observed carrying on even after the lectures ended. Each participant had the opportunity to present on their own research at a poster session using laptops. This School session facilitated not only the pursuit of knowledge, but also a variety of communications between its participants, proving to be a highly spirited and deeply significant event.

This School utilizes a mentor system, where small groups of participants are assigned a staff member or lecturer as a mentor, who offer a listening ear for participants to consult about their research activities and careers. Mentoring sessions were built into the School schedule, and many discussions took place within each group. Thanks to their enthusiastic approach, many participants were also able to form connections with researchers from around the world.

Through the School, participants had a comprehensive and meaningful experience that including learning in lectures, presenting their research to and exchanging thoughts and ideas with international researchers, and receiving advice from mentors on their careers and research activities.

Here are some words of praise from the survey participants completed after the School session ended:
“It was good practice to apply the techniques I learned in the Parallel Programming Challenge lecture to real-world problems.”
“There was lots of time to interact with participants from other countries, and it was an opportunity to learn about what kind of demands there are for research.”
“There are many students who need the knowledge that you can get at School essential, so I would recommend it to students in my department.”
