The RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) is calling for applications to attend the International HPC Summer School 2022 which R-CCS will be co-hosting with other research institutes in Europe, the US and Canada. Eligibility

Young scientists, including graduate and PhD students, scientists and engineers affiliated with private companies, etc . (about 80 individuals in total)
Note: Approx. 10 successful applicants will be invited from Japan.
Applicants must belong to universities or companies whose head or the delegated person can issue a formal letter of request on behalf of applicants.
(R-CCS will cover round trip airfares and accommodation etc.)

In the case that the event is hosted onsite, you will need to agree to take quarantine measures for overseas travel and entry/exit in accordance with the regulations of the host country, host organization, RIKEN, and your organization in light of safety considerations pertinent to COVID-19. Purpose

The international summer school will provide an opportunity for young researchers to broaden their perspective and acquire new knowledge through lectures and workshops offered by the leading scientists in the HPC field and to network with other participants from many parts of the world. The objective is to foster young scientists who can lead future advances in the HPC field.

This program started as the European-U.S. Summer School on HPC Challenges in Computational Sciences. Japan participated for the first time in 2013 and Canada followed in 2014. This year’s event will be the 11th International Summer School on HPC Challenges in Computational Sciences.

Events

Leading European, Canadian, Japanese and American computational scientists and HPC technologists will offer instruction on a variety of topics, including:

  • HPC and Big Data challenges in major scientific discipline
  • HPC Programming Proficiencies
  • Performance analysis and profiling
  • Software engineering
  • Numerical libraries
  • Big data analysis and analytics
  • Deep learning
  • Scientific visualization
  • Canadian, Europe, Japanese and U.S. HPC infrastructures
