Research Teams (2014-21)

The Flagship 2020 Project carried out research and development for future supercomputing. Its task was to develop the next-generation flagship supercomputer in Japan, now known as Fugaku, with the goal of starting full operations in FY2021. The Project took on a number of challenges in four areas: system software, architecture, applications, and co-design. The Project successfully completed its mission, and shared use of Fugaku began in March 2021.
