Getting to R-CCS (Kobe)

R-CCS is located in an artificial island called "Port Island" at City of Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It is about 20 minutes from downtown Kobe by train.

1. Getting to nearby airports

International visitors are recommended to reach Kansai International Airport (KIX) if you have a convenient direct flight from your origin. Another option is to first come to Tokyo (HND or NRT) and then connect to Osaka International Airport (ITM) or take the bullet train (JR Shinkansen) from Tokyo to the Shin-Kobe station, which is about 150 minutes.

Attention

  • Airport buses do not accept credit cards. Bring cash: 2000 JPY from KIX; 1070 JPY from ITM. Cheaper round-trip tickets from KIX are available.
  • No guest parking spot available around R-CCS. No need to have a car if you stay in Kobe.
  • From Sannomiya Station on the Port liner, please take a train heading towards Kobe Airport. You need to buy tickets in cash: 290 JPY.

2. From bullet train (JR Shinkansen) station

Get off the bullet train (JR Shinkansen) at Shin-Kobe Station, and transfer to the Kobe City Subway. At the first stop, Sannomiya, transfer to Port Liner, heading towards Kobe Airport. Ride the Port Liner for approximately 14 minutes and get off at Keisan Kagaku Center Station.

3. Accommodations

Many hotels are available in downtown Kobe, and can be booked via normal booking sites. Typical price per night is around 6,000 to 10,000 JPY. Note that Japanese hotels charge accommodation per person rather than per room. Make sure to choose one that is walking distance to the Sannomiya train station so that you can directly come to R-CCS by Port Liner train.

Another option is to stay inside the island to reduce your transportation time from the hotel to R-CCS. Here are the hotels inside the island and within walking distance from the Shimin-Hiroba station, which is two stops from the Keisan Kagaku Center Station.
