Title:
Programming environment for Fugaku and beyond -- quantum HPC hybrid
Abstract:
Quantum computers are systems based on the principles of quantum theory. Quantum computers have been expected to play an important role in the fields where classical computers should show little growth. On the other hand, there should be requirements for HPC to provide significant computational capabilities to make use of quantum computers.
In this talk, we present a research and development plan for the quantum HPC hybrid computing platform toward HPC for quantum computing and future cooperative computation by supercomputers and quantum computers.
We focus on a programming environment to support the quantum and HPC applications, which offloads some kernels in an application to quantum computers based on their characteristics using a remote procedure call. We also discuss the role of supercomputers in enhancing the development and evolution of quantum computers, such as circuit optimization and error collection/mitigation, and introduce the porting plan of quantum software development kits to the supercomputer Fugaku.
