Machine learning for satellite data assimilation in numerical weather prediction without physical satellite simulator
Abstract:
This presentation summarizes the highlights of the activities of Data Assimilation Research Team in the past year since the last R-CCS Café presentation. A major progress has been made in leveraging machine learning in satellite data assimilation in numerical weather prediction (NWP). We also present other topics such as our own ocean analysis dataset LORA (LETKF-based Ocean Research Analysis) with JAXA, and SATREPS cooperation with Argentina for regional NWP.
