Recent activities on Multiple- and Mixed-Precision computing
Abstract:
We recently conducted multiple-precision computing and a more fine-grained approach to mixed-precision computing. We have proposed a new design for BLAS that can handle multiple- and mixed-precision computations. Our templated mixed-precision BLAS (tmBLAS) addresses weaknesses in existing BLAS by decoupling the data types of each operand and operator using C++ generic programming, with explicit descriptions of operators and type-up/down-castings. We have released a prototype implementation from the R-CCS Git Hub that instantiates routines with FP{16, 32, 64, 128} and DD data types with those operations in one level with higher precision than the data precision. Also, a recent discussion on lower-precision approaches for emulating higher-precision calculation will be argued at the presentation time.

Title:
HPCI2.0 for Fugaku-next
Abstract:
HPCI is one of the important infrastructures for promoting the R&D of computer and computational science in Japan. More than ten years have passed since the HPCI was launched in 2011. In the past ten years, many remarkable outcomes have been produced by assists of the HPCI; however, many issues occurred in the operation and organizing of the HPCI. It is the time to evaluate its activities over the past ten years and to consider the improvements for the next ten years.
In this presentation, I will discuss the issues of the current utilization system of Fugaku and HPCI and consider how can we improve them for Fugaku-next.
