Title:
HIV Infection and Their Remedial Measures using Drug Therapy – A Mathematical Analysis using Spectral Collocation Technique
Abstract:
The spectral method is applied to study the spread of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection in blood cells. An improved mathematical model is proposed and analysed. This model is further improved to incorporate the drug treatment for the HIV Infection model. The model possesses two different Anti Retro Viral (ARV) drugs such as Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (RTI) and Protease Inhibitor (PI) that influence the HIV infection spread rate. The different scenarios of treatment regimes for HIV analysed are (i) when no drug is administered; (ii) when a single ARV (either RTI or PI) is administered and (iii) when the combined drugs of RTI and PI is administered. The computational analysis and the results depicting the rate of HIV infection spread with respect to the above three cases reveal very interesting information about the possible use of combined drug dosages to curtail the HIV infection. This simulation study considers the effect of various parameters involved in the mathematical model and its influence on the study variables.
