Call for applications: International HPC Summer School 2019 (in Kobe, Japan, July 2019)

The RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) is calling for young applicants interested in attending the International HPC Summer School 2019 which will be co-hosted with European, US and Canadian institutes. Marking the 10th year of the summer school, this year’s program will take place in Japan for the first time. R-CCS will select around 10 individuals and invite them to participate in the program. The international summer school will provide an opportunity for young researchers to broaden their perspective and acquire new knowledge through lectures and workshops offered by the leading scientists in the HPC field and to network with other participants from many parts of the world. The objective is to foster young scientists who can lead future advances in the HPC field.

Events

Leading computational scientists and HPC technologists from the U.S., Japan, Europe and Canada will offer instructions on a variety of topics and also provide advanced mentoring.

Topics include:

  • HPC challenges in major scientific disciplines
  • HPC programming proficiencies
  • Performance analysis and profiling
  • Software engineering
  • Numerical libraries
  • Big data analysis and analytics
  • Machine learning
  • Scientific visualization
  • Canadian, European, Japanese and U.S. HPC-frastructures

Eligibility:

Young scientists, including graduate and PhD students (about 80 individuals in total)
Note: Approx. 10 successful applicants will be invited from Japan.
Applicants must belong to universities whose head or the delegated person can issue a formal letter of request on behalf of applicants.
