A new video "The Challenge of FugakuNEXT Opening the Future of Science with AI x HPC" is now available.
Here is the introduction to the next-generation supercomputer "FugakuNEXT" project, launched by RIKEN in January 2025.
RIKEN has a proven track record of addressing a wide range of societal challenges. It deployed the "K computer" in 2012, followed by its successor, "Fugaku" in 2021. These systems have contributed significantly to areas such as predicting torrential rain, simulating disasters, and searching for drug candidates to combat infectious diseases like COVID-19.
In recent years, the rapid proliferation of generative AI has led to an explosion in demand for computational resources.
In response, development is now underway for "FugakuNEXT" —the successor to "Fugaku"—led by RIKEN in an international collaboration with Fujitsu and NVIDIA.
Explore the details of this project that is paving the way for the future of science: discover the innovative computing infrastructure of "FugakuNEXT" that fuses AI with simulation, learn about the research areas poised for further breakthroughs, and see how this "Made with Japan" development is set to support global science.
