Director Satoshi Matsuoka has been Selected for “HPCwire People to Watch 2026”
JapaneseDirector Satoshi Matsuoka (R-CCS) has been selected for HPCwire's People to Watch 2026. HPCwire's People to Watch Program, now in its 24th year, is an annual recognition by HPCwire (U.S.), a global online publication covering High Performance Computing (HPC), honoring HPC professionals who play leading roles driving innovation within their particular fields and making significant contributions to society.
Alongside Director Matsuoka, twelve distinguished leaders representing various sectors and fields were selected this year, including Dr. Jay Gambetta from IBM and Dr. Dario Gil from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Regarding this year’s selection, the editorial team commented as follows:
"This year’s group of People to Watch is marked by the transformative impact that AI is having on the fields of science and engineering. Despite the enormous potential for automation that AI brings to many fields, including scientific computing, none of it works without people — people like the ones we are proud to honor. Our 12 People to Watch are at the forefront of these trends, adapting new technology to our rapidly-changing world in order to unlock the answers to the biggest societal challenges of our time and make the impossible, possible."
