Talk Title and Abstract

Speaker: Prof. Jayson G. Cosme

Title:
Time crystals in atom-cavity systems
Abstract:
Driving a many-body system out of equilibrium can lead to fascinating phenomena, such as realising dynamical phases of matter. Time crystals are an example of such an intriguing dynamical phase of matter. In this talk, I will present our results on a certain class of time crystals that are enabled by a quantum system’s interaction with its environment, namely dissipative time crystals. Specifically, I will present our experimental observation and theoretical exploration of the nature of dissipative time crystals, covering both the discrete and continuous types. I will also discuss our recent attempts to investigate logic gates for classical bits encoded in dissipative discrete time crystals.
